Properties and Applications of Die Castings
Properties
Given the excellent fluidity and plasticity of copper, zinc, aluminum and aluminum alloys, and the fact that die casting is carried out under pressure in die casting machines, aluminum die castings can be fabricated into highly complex shapes with high precision and surface finish. This greatly reduces the amount of machining required and the casting allowances for copper, zinc, aluminum or aluminum alloys, saving not only electric power and metal materials but also labor costs significantly.
In addition, copper, zinc, aluminum and aluminum alloys boast superior thermal conductivity, low specific gravity and high machinability. For these reasons, die castings are widely applied in various industries, including automotive manufacturing, internal combustion engine production, motorcycle manufacturing, motor manufacturing, oil pump manufacturing, transmission machinery manufacturing, precision instruments, landscaping, power construction, and architectural decoration.
Applications
Die castings can be manufactured into a wide range of parts, such as die-cast automotive components, die-cast automotive engine fittings, die-cast air conditioning parts, die-cast gasoline engine cylinder heads, die-cast valve rocker arms, die-cast valve supports, die-cast power fittings, die-cast motor end covers, die-cast housings, die-cast pump casings, die-cast construction parts, die-cast decorative fittings, die-cast guardrail components, and die-cast wheels.
With the continuous improvement of China's manufacturing equipment industry, the performance of die casting machines has been notably enhanced, expanding the variety of parts that can be produced. The precision and complexity of die-cast parts have also been greatly improved. It is believed that in the near future, die castings will better serve our production and daily life.
